New 2012 BMW M5 Sports Saloon Receives its Video Debut

This first official promo of the new F10 BMW M5 attempts to give us a more dynamic view of the Bavarian sports saloon with scenes from the track. For some reason though, BMW has masked most of the video with a dramatic but redundant music soundtrack since most of us are interested in hearing the sounds of the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine.

BMW to Debut New 2012 M5 Saloon at The Goodwood Festival of Speed

The all-new 2012 BMW M5 sports sedan will be making its first public appearance at The Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place in the UK between July 1 and 3, the German automaker announced today.
The most powerful production version of the M5 series to date comes with a high-revving 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 pumping out 560hp from 5,750-7,000rpm and 680Nm [501.5 lb-ft] of torque from 1,500rpm. It goes on sale this fall.

With the first photos of the all-new 2012 M5 making the internet rounds since the early hours of Wednesday morning, BMW decided to lift the embargo and officially present the fifth generation of its high-performance saloon.
As with all previous M5s since the introduction of the first generation model back in 1984, the most important highlight of the car is tucked away behind the double kidney grilles. This time, BMW�s M division opted for a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that replaces the previous M5�s more exotic but less powerful, naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V10 with 507HP.

2012 BMW M5: First Official Photos Leak on the Internet

These are the first official pictures of the all-new BMW M5. It is based on the latest generation of the 5-Series, the F10, and boasts all the visual cues that you expect from a car that has been honed by BMW�s famous M-division: namely huge air intakes in the front bumper, side vents in the front wings bearing the M-logo, 20-inch wheels with 265/35 front and 295/30 rear ZR-rated tires, and twin tailpipes at either end of the rear diffuser.
As anticipated, the new model breaks with tradition by using a twin-turbocharged V8 (the outgoing M5 had a V10 and the one before that a V8, with the previous versions making do with in-line straight sixes, all naturally aspirated) sourced from the X5 M and X6 M.
Losing two cylinders and gaining two turbochargers seems like a fair trade, though, since the new M5�s output is up by 45 hp, from 507 to 552, and, more importantly, maximum torque has risen from 383 to 501 lb-ft (53,0 to 69,4 kgm).

The hype surrounding the upcoming M5 continues with a new video released by BMW showing the Bavarian firm�s high-performance sedan being tested at the company's Miramas proving grounds in the south of France. Given that the M5 is scheduled to be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September, these are probably the final rounds of testing before production begins.

The Dangers of Test Driving: BMW M5 E60 Driver Overtakes M5 F10 Prototype at 300km/h [Video]

Being a test driver for any automaker isn�t an easy task. In fact, there are times it can be downright dangerous, as this video clip proves. You see, it is one thing filming a prototype vehicle from a distance and on foot and another when a fool does it holding a cell phone camera on one hand and the steering wheel with the other while passing you on the autobahn at around 300km/h (187mph)� That�s just beyond stupid.

The fastest sedan- G-POWER M5 Hurricane RS

G-POWER M5 Hurricane RS achieved a top speed of 228,4 mph (367,4 km/h) at the ATP High-Seed test track in Papenburg last month. Before this new record been set, the previous record 227.2 mph (365,7 km/h) was set by the BRABUS Rocket. G-POWER M5 Hurricane RS had been given extra 20 hp (total power at 750 hp) to break the record for fastest BMW sedan and also to become the fastest sedan in the world.

2 modified superchargers from G-POWER with enlarged capacity are the source to the extra power of the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS. In the following the boost level of the G-POWER BI-Kompressor system could be raised from 0,7 bar rel. to 0,8 bar rel. According to G-POWER the BI-Kompressor system could be raised from 0,7 bar rel. to 0,8 bar rel., but the system has not reached its limit yet. Companies representatives confirmed that if needed, the system could be improved and the M5 Hurricane could be taken to a whole new level.

2011 BMW M5 Details Spilled

The 2011 BMW M5 saloon will have a 0-100 km/h time 0.3 seconds faster than the current model, according to Car Magazine. The car will receive a significant boost in power and torque, and a generous increase in efficiency.

Unfortunately, those who want a wagon variant will have to look elsewhere. No new BMW M5 Touring is planned for production at this time, according to the magazine.

Engineers at the German automaker achieved the faster time despite dumping the 5-liter V10-engine in favor of a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8. Horsepower on the engine, already seen in the X5 M, bounces up to 578 hp, while torque is increased over the most recent M5 by 40% from 380 lft-lb to 531 ft-lb.

Even with better performance, the car will use an estimated 30% less fuel, while pumping out similarly reduced emissions, with final figures expected to be at a respectable 24 mpg. This was not only accomplished with weight management, but through the use of the company's Efficient Dynamics system. A kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), developed by the company's ex-F1 programme, may also make it to the final vhehicle.

If the 250 km/h (155 mph) speed limiter were removed, the car would top out around 303 km/h (188.3 mph). The 2011 BMW M5 should be introduced at the end of 2010, with market launch in the spring of 2011.

Y's Factory BMW M5

Japanese tuners - Y's Factory has came out modified BMW M5 based sedan. The front end features a revised bumper with tinted blue headlamp lenses. The low-profile tyres look at least 20-inch in diameter and are wrapped around 10-spoke black rims which feature what appears to be larger blue 6 piston calipers with matching hardware.

For the rear of the car, a pair of massive mufflers flanking an air diffuser that made others cannot be mistaken when it passes by. The wing on the boot rises up to about three thirds of the rear window and is wider than the body of the car itself.

For the interior, all that can be seen from the pictures are blue Recaro seats, standard M5 detailing and a floor that looks stripped out and bare. Details pertaining to the car's performance abilities can be seen on the tuner's website but unfortunately for us it's all in Japanese.

Next generation BMW M5 may get turbo-ed V8

The next generation 2011 BMW M5 based on the new F10 car set to debut in 2010 may get its cylinders cut by 2 and replaced by two turbochargers, much like the 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 found in the BMW X6 xDrive50i.

The current production version of the N63B44 produces 408hp between 5,500 to 6,400rpm and an M5-beating 600Nm of torque between 1,800 and 4,500rpm, but the insider reported that a variation of the N63B44 twin-turbocharged V8 under testing in BMW�s engineering labs producing over 536hp and even more ridiculous amounts of torque.

BMW may end up leaving the high revving 8,400rpm madness of normally aspirated engines only in the BMW M3 in the next generation of M cars, with the upcoming lightweight M-ish 1-Series getting a turbocharged motor as well, but for weight reasons.
