2012 Porsche 911 range to receive the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS)

Its not a secret anymore that Porsche is currently working on the next-generation 911 dubbed 991, right? Still, for those who dont know we will tell you once again that the all-new Porsche 911 is set to make its debut this September at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Now listen to the latest rumor: according to Autoblog, it appears that the all-new Porsche 911 will feature the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) on the entire range.

For those folks who dont know, the Kinetic Energy Recovery System is capable to take the brake energy recuperation to a higher level. KERS is able to store that energy and use it when you want a little bit more power for a quick overtaking.

Moreover, the KERS is definitely coming on the new Porsche 911 as the wheelbase length received four whole inches with the added vehicle length of 2.75 inches. This means enough space to fit the new flywheel technology between the gearbox and engine (which was seen on the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the Porsche 918 RSR). Still, Porsche is also planning a hybrid version of the 991, you can read all about it here! [via - 4wheelsnews]
